Want a hands-on way to learn the Korean alphabet? This free printable Hangul flashcards PDF pairs letter cards with illustrated Korean vocabulary cards. It includes 70 cards in all: 14 consonants, 21 vowels, and 35 picture words, arranged across 10 A4 landscape pages.
The cards themselves use Korean words. To help English-speaking learners, I have listed the English meaning of every pictured word below each page preview. You can use the set with children, in a classroom, or for your own first steps with Hangul.

Korean consonant flashcards: 14 basic letters
The first four pages introduce the basic consonants from ㄱ to ㅎ. Each letter card has a large character with numbered, dotted strokes. The matching pictures help learners connect a Korean word to its opening consonant: 고양이 (cat) begins with ㄱ, and 나비 (butterfly) begins with ㄴ.

Korean vowel flashcards and picture words
The next six pages cover 21 vowels, beginning with familiar shapes such as ㅏ, ㅓ, ㅗ, and ㅜ, then moving to combined vowels. The picture words contain the target vowel sounds. Read the Korean word aloud, use the English meaning as a guide, and compare letters that look similar.

Simple ways to learn the Korean alphabet with these cards
- Name the picture: Pick an illustrated card, say the Korean word, and check its English meaning in the page caption above.
- Find a letter match: Pair a picture word with its initial consonant. For vowel practice, look for a vowel sound within the word.
- Trace the letter shape: Follow the dotted strokes and numbers with a finger. Use separate paper if you want to practice writing.
- Add your own word: Think of another Korean word that starts with the same consonant or contains the same vowel.
Start with two or three favorite pictures instead of memorizing all 70 cards at once. Short, repeated sessions make the set easier to explore.
How to print and cut the cards
Open the PDF from the Google Drive link below. When printing, select A4 paper and landscape orientation. Check the print preview to make sure the card borders fit; your printer's “fit to page” option may help if the edges are cut off.
Cut along the card borders after printing. An adult should help children with scissors. For repeated use, you can attach the cards to thicker paper or laminate them. You can also print only the pages you need.
